The Ørnes-family has for generations owned a large mountain area in connection with their farm at Mæl by lake Tinn. This mountain area was in the old days known as the Kvitåvatn area, today the central part of Gaustatoppen. If you are fishing in lake Kvitåvatn, hiking around Djuptjørn or Krosshovd or skiing in Vatnedalen you are using the area belonging to the Ørnes farm.
The Ørnes-family ownes and runs today Kvitåvatn Fjellhytter among many other activities. It is also possible to buy a building plot from the Ørnes family. Some of the plots for sale are located where the old mountain farm used to be. Here your hut will be standing on the old cultivated land which would have been the center of the summer farm activities.
Kvitåvatn Fjellhytter was started in 1997 with 11 huts (type A). These cabins were later sold for private use. From 1999 to 2002 a further 35 cabins were built (type B og C). Of these: Cabins type B is generally used for short term rent. Cabin type C mainly yearly rent agreement.
